When your home is clean, it creates a happy environment that everyone in your family can enjoy. Even if you are doing house cleaning on a regular basis, it is possible to miss key areas. Bacteria and germs are not viable to the naked eye, but they can still lurk on surfaces that appear clean. Here are six important places Dust Busters suggests you clean on a daily basis to help keep germs in check.
It is important to make sure you wash any used dishes in your kitchen every day. If you have a dishwasher, make sure that you take the time to rinse and store your dishes inside instead of leaving them in the sink. Keeping your sink clean and tidy helps reduce germs, mold, and odors in your kitchen.
The counters in your kitchen are great places to prepare meals, snacks and store any number of random items. How often have you come in from outside and tossed your keys, wallet, purse or bag on the counter? Chances are it’s pretty often. Since your counters are your main food preparation areas, it is very important to keep them clean. Clean up spills right away and wipe down your counters with a strong cleanser at least once daily.
Washing your hands and keeping your sinks free of dishes are not the same as keeping your sink clean. Washing dirt, bacteria and grim off of your hands and dishes actually makes your sink a breeding ground for filth. Make sure to wipe down your bathroom and kitchen sinks with a sponge and antibacterial cleanser at the end of every day. To get rid of stubborn oil or stains, fill your sink with hot water and add dish soap. Allow it to soak then empty the sink and wipe it down with a clean towel.
While we are on the topic of towels, it is important to wash your hand towels often. Dish towels, kitchen towels, and bathroom towels see the most traffic in every household. As a result, they tend to collect the most germs. Make a point of putting out clean towels on a daily basis. To make your towels extra fluffy, add a cup of white vinegar to your washing cycle.
Any area exposed to water on a regular basis has the potential to breed mold and bacteria. Your shower and tub should be wiped down following every shower or bath. This will stop water stains from forming and will also prevent mildew growth. Make a point of giving your whole bathroom a deep clean at least once weekly.
Pets are not the neatest of creatures but as their owner, you can make sure their area remains sanitary. Wet pet food, water bowls, and saliva can leave behind sticky messes that attract dirt and bacteria. Make a point of wiping or moping your pet feeding areas at least every day, or following every feeding.
