Cleaning your house every week is a great way to cut down on clutter and maintain some form of cleanliness. However, deep cleaning is the best way to make sure your home is not only clean but also disinfected. If your home recently experienced a major event, such as renovations, a fire, or even a large party, it’s the perfect time to take on some larger cleaning tasks. Below, Dust Busters has listed a few tips that will help you deep clean your house with ease.
Porcelain looks amazing when it is new, but just like any other porous material, it can get stained over time. An easy way to deep clean your porcelain is by creating a custom cleanser at home. Add one part baking soda and one part ammonia. With a clean sponge, scrub your sink with the mixture until it shines like new.
You may clean or replace the rags and sponges you use to clean your home, but what about your other cleaning tools? Your broom, mop, and dustpan also need to be cleaned once every two weeks. Dirt and debris accumulate on these items over time, which can spread filth around your home instead of cleaning it up. Your mops can simply get washed in a bucket of diluted bleach, or you can use an alternative of Hydrogen peroxide and lemon (essential oils), and your broom can benefit by being vacuumed.
Do you ever looked at your stove top and get upset looking the ring of blackened food around the burners? The best way to avoid these rings is to prevent pots from boiling over or clean up spills as soon as they happen. For baked-on grime, simply soak the area in baking soda and water, then wipe away the char. If that does not do the trick, use a tool easily purchased and any supermarket or hardware store that will scrap away the excess food. Make sure it is wet while you scrape.
Have you ever walked into your bathroom only to scrunch up your face due to the smell? Has your spouse or kids ever mentioned that the bathroom smells less than pleasant, even though it was recently cleaned? Some bathroom odors are stubborn and need a bit more work to banish from your bathroom.
A lot of homeowners put a lot of effort into cleaning the toilet bowl, but the smell often originates from the toilet siphons. These small holes in the bowl allow clean water to help flush the waste down into the bowl, but over time, these holes can get filled with waste, which turns into a bad smell. In order to clean them, all you have to do is cover the holes with industrial duct tape and fill the tank with white cleaning vinegar. Flush, and allow the vinegar to soak in the tank and the holes overnight. The next day, not only will your tank be clean, but so will your toilet siphons.
Seeing yellow pillows may tempt you to buy new ones, but instead of wasting money, you can just wash them instead. Two or three times a year, you should make a point of tossing all of the pillows in your home in the washing machine. Then, toss them in the dryer along with a tennis ball or two for fresh, clean pillows.
