There are a lot of small details to think about any time you relocate. One of the most important details that many people overlook is the need for deep cleaning. Deep cleaning your new home before moving in will allow you to target all areas and ensure there are no nasty germs or bacteria left behind. Dust Busters has put together a simple guide on how to deep clean your new home, while also highlighting the benefits of cleaning before you move in.

The Deep Cleaning Process

Deep cleaning is different than regular cleaning. You will need heavy-duty cleaning products, thick gloves, and even a step ladder to reach high areas. Make sure to follow the right process to ensure cleaning is done properly, or hire our Newmarket house cleaning company to do it for you. Start by cleaning the higher areas of the home, like the fans and windows, air vents in bathrooms etc. Then, finish with the lower portions such as windowsills, light switches, touch points, baseboards and the floors. Break your work up into manageable sections and make a point of avoiding areas that have already been clean to prevent recontamination.  Microfiber cloths work great. Change them often.

The Kitchen

Your kitchen is one of the most used spaces in your home. It is where you prepare sustenance for your whole family and where everyone comes together to socialize. Deep cleaning in this area is extremely important. Make sure to target the fixtures, sinks, backsplashes, countertops (inside and out), the stove, and inside your appliances. Take your time and make sure not to skip any areas for a complete deep clean.

All Bathrooms

No deep cleaning can be complete without making sure all of the bathrooms are sanitized. This includes scrubbing the showers, doors, tiles, sinks, toilets, countertops, and even under the sinks. The best way to clean these areas is to use a bathroom cleaner, but you can also use a good disinfectant solution to ensure mold/bacteria and germs are eliminated if this is a challenge. There are also some good homemade/store bought green products too. When you move in, these areas will be clean and disinfected for your family to enjoy.

Hallways & Rooms

You and your family will spend a lot of time in the rooms of your new home and travelling to each via the hallways. The best way to deep clean these areas is to start with any mirrors, woodwork, ledges, and window sills. Wash them with disinfecting solution such as Simple Green or a bleach mixture. Dust every available space and make sure to get rid of any fingerprints or cobwebs you come across. Take out any trash, organize the space, and then vacuum/mop the floors to finish your deep cleaning.
