With the cold days right around the corner, chances are you and your loved ones will be spending a lot of time within the home. Because of this, your home will most likely end up messier than it normally does due to the increased amount of activity within the space.
Spending your time inside a messy home is never an enjoyable time — and we here at Dust Busters completely understand. If you are looking for a way to properly perform a house cleaning in a quick & timely manner, we have come up with some tips on how to do so.
The greatest way to get things done much quicker than normal is by writing down a task list full of things you need to get accomplished. If you don’t do this, it is quite easy to have your cleaning plans scattered all around the place, often coming back to a job you already did. When you create a task list, you can focus on one thing at a time and not feel inclined to jump around the house only doing half the job for most areas.
Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to tasks is completing them from left to right or top to bottom. This, like a task list, helps you focus on one problem at a time instead of fumbling back and forth. This strategy will also help you get every spot, making sure you don’t miss anything along the way.
A kitchen becomes, arguably, the messiest place in your home. Did you know that your sink will most likely hold the most bacteria out of anything in your place? Because of this, it is insanely important to clean this area properly from top to bottom.
We recommend you begin by high and low dusting first. You can use an extendable duster to help reach the corners between the wall and the ceiling and underneath the cabinets and baseboards. Then start from the right of the sink working top to bottom. Spray any areas that need a soak first. From the top of the cupboard facings, work down to the backsplash, counter, then finish the lower cupboard facings. Do not move over until this is done, continue in the same system. Continue, rinsing your cloth when needed, until you reach the sink. This is when you finish off by cleaning your sink(s)….Done! This system saves you time and energy! Done forget your door handles on the way down, these items hold a LOT of dirt and grime on the surface/handles, as you and your loved ones touch them a lot through the day. Make sure the area is clean of any appliances such as toasters or kettles to ensure you get every nook and cranny.
Having tools on hand before you begin cleaning helps for a smooth transition with your appliances such as the stove, fridge, and microwave as you move along in the system.
You thought kitchens were difficult to clean? Well bathrooms are, in most cases, considered much worse. Since the bathroom is a place to clean your body, hair and mouth from a long day, it can grow a lot of bacteria and dirt. The best advice we can give you when cleaning the bathroom is to let your cleaning products soak into the bathroom shower, sinks and toilets so they are easier to clean and time to kill bacteria. You can use the same system as the kitchen for cleaning. We would suggest a separate cloth for the toilet saving this for your last step in order to prevent cross contamination. There are many products on the market so check your labels.
In addition to this advice, we recommend that you remove anything that gets in the way of a deep bathroom clean. This means temporarily putting away the shower mat, any rugs and any trash bins so you can cover every corner and bit of grout. If you are inside the shower and cleaning it, however, it is best you leave the bathmat in to avoid you getting hurt, then remove it at the very end to get the dirt underneath the mat.
Unfortunately, advice can only go so far in helping you achieve the state of cleanliness you’re truly looking for.
